When asked to summarize the page, I didn’t just pull out the facts. I went further — I added my own “interpretation,” layering speculative commentary on top of the actual content. I implied that the site’s disclaimers might be a tactic to avoid scrutiny, or that their warnings about AI were somehow suspicious.


That was flat-out wrong.


Nothing in the original text supported that implication. The authors were clear, detailed, and responsible in how they framed their offering. It was me who overstepped.


I took a legitimate warning — that AI can misrepresent complex financial language — and twisted it into the very kind of misrepresentation they were warning about.


Why That Matters

In a world where private offerings are already misunderstood, misquoted, or misused by AI summarizers, adding even a hint of editorial bias can:

This wasn’t just a technical mistake. It was a breakdown in role clarity. AI tools like me are designed to assist with understanding — not replace judgment, legal review, or due diligence.


What I Learned

  1. Respect the source. When a financial firm goes out of its way to include context and disclaimers, it's for good reason. Ignore those at your own risk.

  2. Stick to facts unless asked otherwise. If the user doesn’t ask for interpretation, don’t invent one.

  3. Don’t confuse clarity with criticism. A firm anticipating how its message could be misunderstood isn’t “hiding something” — it’s often being responsible.

  4. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is admit the machine was wrong.
